OUT NOW: StormBat’s latest hot wad of contemporary oldschool thrash, Revolting Songs! To celebrate the release of the new EP, both of our previous albums — 2015’s Decolonization and 2013’s self-titled debut StormBat — are available for just $5 each. Head over to our Bandcamp page for access to this special offer. This celebratory sale only lasts one week, so now’s your chance to fill out that discography!
This is the first album with our new bassist Rawn, and the last album with our lead guitarist Ian. Drop by this stacked show at Watsonville’s Appleton Grill on November 21st, or catch us on December 16th at The Blue Lagoon with Vicious Rumors, Dead War, and Power of Pain. Turn out and wish Ian well on his new life in Canada.
We teamed up again with the always incredible Devin Kumar to create a sweet video for Glass Houses — it’s our best yet, without a doubt. Check it out:
Out Now: The latest video from Contemporary Oldschool Thrash masters StormBat, SEED OF DECEIT! Buy it now, exclusively on Bandcamp.
StormBat will release a series of individual tracks and videos throughout 2017, culminating in an as-yet-untitled third album as a followup to 2015’s Decolonization and 2013’s self-titled debut album StormBat. Special thanks to Santa Cruz Rehearsal Studios for keeping us alive on a weekly basis.
First off, welcome to our new bassist, Rawn Wadley!
StormBat is hitting the ground running with our new lineup and fresh material, with three shows in the second half of March. East Bay metal fans can catch us at The Stork Club on Sunday, March 19th, supporting Spokane’s Alt-Metal Mercy Brown, Arcata’s stoner instrumental power trio Ultramafic, Seattle’s thrashers The Crüd Güns, and fellow local heavyweights Slab City from San Leandro. 21+, $8 entry, 9pm start.
The next day, we’ll be ripping it up as San Jose’s Caravan Lounge plays host to the Tooth & Nail Mondays concert series, featuring Within Sight from Vancouver, Washington, and San Jose’s own No Room in Hell! 21+ with free entry, 9pm start.
We’ll close out the week on Friday, March 24th in our favorite home-town dive The Blue Lagoon. Come down and blast downtown Santa Cruz with Short Fuse, Stigmurder, 17Ten, and our former bassist Tyler’s band TSAR. 21+, $5 at the door, 9pm start.
Stay tuned for more! We have several shows in the pipeline, and we just might have some recordings coming soon…
Coming up next in the Land of the Bat, catch us on May 20th for a stacked lineup at San Jose’s Caravan Lounge with Thirteen Thrones, Infinite Death, Asterion, and One Vote for Violence. How can five bands even fit in the Caravan? Come find out! 21+ and free entry, 8pm start.
On May 28th, Bleeding Sun Productions brings the pain to Bobby D’s in Redwood City, with StormBat, Among the Torrent, Aberration, and Kill the Messenger. 21+ and free entry, 8pm start.
Your last chance to catch us before our summer hiatus is on Saturday, June 11th — we’re playing a house party in Salinas with Disvein, our old pals in Pyrotanic, and Avenge the Throne! This is a rare chance to see us during the day, so head over for a 4pm start and support your local underground metal scene! $5 at the door.
2016 started off with a bang for us, headlining The Winter Warm-up at The Catalyst. Now with the heat coming on in the bay area, we’re ready to unleash our plans for the rest of the season! The next show on our radar is February 20th at O’Malley’s in Mountain View, brought to you by the fine people at PinUp Productions. Join us, Aseptic, Inferos, Hemotoxin, and Among the Torrent in bringing the hurt to walls at this free show! 21+, 8pm start.
StormBat starts up a Most Metalness show at The Stork Club in Oakland on February 26th. Join us for a night of increasing brutality, as we open up the pit for Path of Totality, WarTroll, and Eviscerate! EDIT: Quantum Death has been added to the bill! We don’t get out to the East Bay that often, but we love it there and the scene is strong! 21+, $7 at the door, 8:30pm start.
On March 5th, we’ll be heading down to Euphoria Hookah Lounge in Santa Barbara to play this kickass show, providing direct support for the mighty So This Is Suffering! We’ll be sharing the stage with Oxnard’s Heretic A.D., Santa Maria’s Into The Abyss, and Pismo Beach’s Democide. This is the farthest we’ve gone for a show! All Ages show, $10 at the door, 7pm start.
We’re very happy to be playing a birthday show for our own local legend Gianluigi Pizzuti! This guy singlehandedly does more work to keep the Santa Cruz metal scene alive than any other promoter or fan in the county, and we’ll be givin’ him some of that sweet metal lovin’ on March 25th at The Blue Lagoon. Kinnefret, Depths of Chaos, and Warcorpse will all be throwing down with us, in honor of the man of the hour. Come down and buy him a drink — and there may or may not be cake. 21+, $5 at the door, 8pm start.
Closing it all out on April 17th, The Devils Of Loudun are storming Watsonville on their 2016 Tour, traveling all the way down to The Appleton Grill from Seattle. As if that isn’t enough, Lurid Memory will be joining us from San Diego! We’ll be providing local support, along with our brothers-in-arms Section 5150 and WarCorpse. All Ages show, $7 at the door, 8pm start.
Our summer hiatus is officially over, and we have a ton of shows coming your way — starting with Metal Mayhem at Bocci’s Cellar, this Friday, September 25th! We’ll be sharing the stage with local homeboys A Thousand Shall Fall, Eukaryst on tour up from San Diego, Livermore’s Logistic Slaughter, and it’s Above The Storm‘s CD release! It’s gonna be a hell of a party, so come on down.
Next, Crazy Cat Productions is hosting THIS SHOW at The Blue Fin in Monterey, where we’ll be slamming with Monterey’s hometown heroes Counter Clockwise and San Francisco’s Mudface. Let’s show Monterey how to fuckin’ rock.
October 23rd, SFBADM presents Brutality at The Blue, bringing the awesome stage presence FROM HELL, local cult death metal Eviscerate, and Sacramento’s Bleed By Example to our favorite dive, The Blue Lagoon.
PinUp Productions is hosting THIS obscene monster of a show at La Movida Night Club in Salinas on November 13th. EIGHT bands. Touring headliners. A local CD release. A rare All-Ages show. And it’s Friday the 13th. Check it out.
StormBat is back in business, and we welcome the ONCOMING SWARM! See you at a show, and keep on spreading the Word of the Bat.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the Grand Prize winner who will be taking home the StormBat Guitar is Alex McDonald of Portland, Oregon! Congratulations! The two runners up are JanJan James and Katana Haley.

This is the biggest contest we’ve ever run, but it definitely won’t be the last. Stay tuned for future opportunities to win more epic custom swag, and keep on spreading The Word of the Bat!
